Clay Shoot 4th October 2oo3 RAF Odiham Clay Pigeon Club

Our club members were among the participants at the HSRC Clay Shoot run at RAF Odiham Clay Club. All acquitted themselves very well. The standard of shooting in the Senior Section was extremely high with the overall high score coming from this section, and there were only 5 clays separating the top 8 competitors. This put Matt Carrig's and Peter Alderman's very creditable scores of 17 and 14 respectively out of a possible 24 down the field a little. In the Junior Section Ben Hollands and Pierre Reader came 6th with a score of 13 clays each and Robert Chester really did the business winning the Gold medal with a score of 19. Since this was the first time Ben, Pierre, and Robert had used a shotgun this isn't just good, it's excellent! The adults didn't do badly either, even though Dave, as organiser, was too busy with the admin for the day to take part in the competition. Scrolin wrote the above bit and must be feeling shy as he came 3rd with a score of 18 in the senior section against the top score of 21 again a super score for a novice clay shot (davee)

Full results are on the HSRC web site meanwhile see the pictures in the picture gallery.

Next Clay Shoot 2nd October 2004 Put the date in your diary!

HSRC Winter Postal Shoot 2002 - 2003

The results of last year's HSRC Winter Postal Shoot have finally been announced. This time the club colours are being waved by Peter Alderman and Helen Coyte who took the top two places in the under 18's Division 2 league. We had hoped to have a second silver in the under 14's Division 1, but some missing targets were found on appeal and Pierre Reader was unfortunately pushed back to 6th place. Hard luck Pierre, but very well done to Peter and Helen.

The 2003 - 2004 Postal Shoot (October to April) has already started. Two Air 7 cards per month, five shots on each. £2:oo entry. October's cards can be shot in November. See Scrolin to book you in.

Scout National Rifle Competition 17th/19 October 2oo3

After 500 shooters had put 22,000 holes in bits of paper this weekend all requiring to be scored counted and recorded, plus several more thousand pellets to be scored for the field target and knock down competitions the boys really did us proud. 1st Liphook just kept on coming up at the presentation!!!!!

Not in any particular order

Junior 6-yard Own Rifle, Bronze : Robert Chester

Junior Field Target, Silver : Pierre Reader

Under 14 6-yard Air Rifle, Gold : Pierre Reader

Ken White Memorial Shield : Pierre Reader

(best individual Junior 6-yard air rifle)

Team event, Bronze : 1st Liphook

(Toby Galtress, Robert Chester, Pierre Reader, Dave Evans)

Chief Scouts Cup : Robert Chester

(best aggregate score)

Certificate of Merit : Matt Carrig

Toby Galtress and Scott Russell were at Walton Firs for the first time representing Liphook Scout Rifles, Toby doing well to be included in the team prize. Matt Carrig and Peter Alderman shooting in the senior class improved on last years scores, with Matt getting very close to a medal. The standard of shooting in the senior classes was really high the scores reflecting this, with Chris Lacey competing, in the 10metre own rifle comp, won with a score of 98! Chris is currently the reigning British Junior Men's Air Rifle Champion. He took the title last March with the highest winning total for six years, and has subsequently achieved even higher scores at International Matches. He is now eligible for the European Championships later this year. Chris started shooting with the Scouts only five years ago! The full results will be on the HSRC web site shortly

What can I say about Robert and Pierre? What a terrific achievement, and not only in one event as it was, medals, for pistol, standing air rifle and field shooting. We should be very proud of their ability, and colossal effort they have put into training week after week. We should also thank their parents for all the support the have given the lads, Scrolin and me.
